Your Role

We are searching for an entry level Mechanical Engineer to join our tight knit team of engineers as we design and launch our next generation products. This is an opportunity to learn automotive-level engineering from a cadre of accomplished design, test, and manufacturing engineers, fabricators, field technicians, and product managers. At Aperia, you will participate in activities across the product development spectrum, from early-stage research and design to CAD modeling and prototyping, through the various stages of lab and field validation stages and into production. You can also count on getting into the field and talking to real customers to understand how your design decisions are meeting their needs and travelling to vendors to check on their manufacturing processes and output.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design and build mechanical assemblies for next-gen products, including prototyping and hands-on field work
  • Develop and execute validation tests, analyze results and advise next steps
  • Perform field visits and audit performance of product in the field
  • Work with vendors to quote new designs, order samples
  • Build and release ECO’s (Engineering Change Orders) in Arena PLM, following Aperia best practices and policies

Qualifications

  • Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree Mechanical Engineering
    • 1-3 years’ experience in product development (ideally automotive or other high volume, high reliability industry)
    • Mechanical aptitude and fluency in mechanical systems
    • Fluency in a CAD program like SolidWorks, or similar
    • Fluency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and it’s Google derivatives (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Self-motivated, intensely curious, and autodidactic
    • Desire to work in a collaborative, team focused environment that encourages independent thinking and continuous improvement
  • Bonus Points:
    • LabVIEW, MATLAB, C++ (or similar micro controller programming language) a big plus
    • Mechatronics, robotics, electronics know-how
    • Data analysis, simulations, Python or SQL experience
    • Student SAE Formula, Baja, etc, type project experience

Pay Range: $95,000 - $120,000

*Base salary only. Salary dependent on multiple factors including, but not limited to, experience and location.

**Additional compensation may include equity, bonuses, stipends, medical, dental, vision, 401-k, and long-term disability insurance.
