Your Role

You will be responsible for leading the design and development of automated test and assembly equipment for our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in machine design, controls, measurement equipment, and programming, with a systems-level approach to equipment design. This role also involves mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the overall engineering strategy of our organization. Equally important, the candidate will work closely with the product design team to influence design for testability and assembly.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of automated test and assembly equipment for manufacturing processes.
  • Develop detailed machine designs, including mechanical, electrical, and software components.
  • Implement control systems for automation, precision measurement, and assembly.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of designs, processes, and protocols.
  • Ensure seamless integration of test and assembly equipment with existing manufacturing systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and validate designs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to equipment performance and integration.
  • Work closely with the product design team to influence design for testability and ease of assembly.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to optimize product designs for manufacturing efficiency and quality.
  • Ensure that design changes align with overall manufacturing and testing capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain software for equipment operation and data acquisition.
  • Utilize programming languages such as Python, C++, and LabVIEW to create and optimize test and assembly sequences.
  • Implement and manage control algorithms and user interfaces.
  • Select and integrate appropriate measurement instruments and sensors.
  • Analyze test data to ensure accuracy and repeatability of equipment performance.
  • Utilize data analysis tools to interpret results and drive continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical leadership and fostering professional growth.
  • Lead project teams, ensuring timely and successful completion of projects.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and continuous improvement of engineering processes and standards.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in designing automated test and assembly equipment or similar systems.
  • Proficiency in machine design, control systems, and measurement technology.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, specifically SolidWorks.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, Node-Red, and/or LabVIEW.
  • Experience with data analysis and interpretation tools.
  • Proven track record of leading projects and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Six Sigma or other quality improvement methodologies.

Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to automated test and assembly equipment.

Pay Range: $110,000 - $140,000

*Base salary only. Salary is dependent on multiple factors including, but not limited to, experience and location.
