In a nutshell, what will I do every day in this role?

As a DevOps Engineer specializing in GCP and GKE, you will be responsible for managing, automating, and enhancing our cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines. Your role will involve working closely with development and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of applications. You will also be tasked with monitoring and improving system performance, as well as implementing best practices for security, scalability, and reliability

Responsibilities for this role:

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and reliable cloud infrastructure on GCP, with a focus on GKE.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and Jenkins to ensure smooth and efficient code deployment.
  • Utilize Kubernetes and Docker for containerization and orchestration of microservices.
  • Monitor system performance and maintain dashboards using GCP monitoring, Grafana & Prometheus to ensure optimal system health and performance.
  • Collaborate with development teams to improve existing processes, enhance deployment strategies, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Manage databases, including PostgreSQL and MongoDB, ensuring data integrity, availability, and performance.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Continuously evaluate and integrate new tools and technologies to improve operational
  • efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices in all aspects of
  • infrastructure and application deployment.
  • Troubleshoot complex system issues and provide effective solutions promptly.
  • Work proficiently with CLI tools to manage and automate tasks.

Qualifications for this role:

  • Working experience in a DevOps role - 3+ years
  • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer, with a strong focus on GCP and GKE.
  • Proficiency in Kubernetes and Docker for container management and orchestration.
  • Hands-on experience with GitLab and Jenkins for version control and CI/CD pipeline management.
  • Solid understanding of monitoring and dashboarding tools, particularly Grafana.
  • Experience with DBMS, including PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash, Terraform).
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Versatility with CLI tools and strong command-line proficiency.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in GCP or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with other cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and deployment.
