About Drawboard

Drawboard is an Australian software company building document productivity and collaboration products used by professionals and teams around the world. Our products are Drawboard PDF, a PDF markup and productivity app across Windows, iOS, macOS, Android, and web, and Drawboard Projects, a cloud-based drawing and document review platform used by architecture, engineering, and construction teams.

Our technology spans desktop, web, and mobile applications, cloud services, real-time collaboration, and subscription SaaS infrastructure.

The Role

We're looking for a hands-on recruiter to run a focused hiring program, working directly with our founder and hiring managers. You'll own the process end to end: role definition, sourcing, screening, interview coordination, references, and offer support.

Our immediate priorities are:

  • Up to two software engineers - across our stack, including UWP / C#.NET, TypeScript/JavaScript, and cross-platform application development
  • A product manager who will also work directly with customers and contribute to support
  • A growth marketer for our SaaS products

Beyond this initial program, we want to build a relationship with a recruiter we can work with over time as roles open up - someone who takes the time to understand Drawboard as a business, can step in and out without heavy onboarding, and can represent us credibly to candidates because they genuinely know who we are and how we work.

This is an internal engagement, not an agency placement role. You'll represent Drawboard directly.

A note on the hardest search: UWP specialists

Our most challenging hire is a specialist .NET engineer with deep experience in UWP (Universal Windows Platform). The talent exists in Australia, but it's a narrow pool and the search has to be precise. Most people with this experience aren't working on UWP day to day - they're on other .NET or Windows work - so we won't find them with a simple keyword search.

The key to this role is working closely with our engineering team to understand the technologies we care about and the adjacent tools, frameworks, and signals that indicate the right background. We'll build a shared picture of the proxies and indicators worth targeting, and you'll turn that into a precise, disciplined search.

This is why we want someone who is genuinely exceptional at sourcing. If you'd prefer to lean on a specialist outsourced sourcer for parts of this, we're open to that - provided we agree on who together.

What you'll do

  • Work with hiring managers to sharpen role requirements, scorecards, and job descriptions
  • Proactively source candidates via LinkedIn Recruiter, SEEK, technical communities, and referrals - not just manage inbound applications
  • Write and refine personalised outreach that accurately presents Drawboard's products and opportunity
  • Screen candidates for technical relevance, motivation, communication, salary expectations, and eligibility
  • Prepare clear candidate summaries and recommendations for hiring managers
  • Coordinate interviews, feedback, references, and offers, and keep candidates engaged throughout
  • Provide a concise weekly report on pipeline activity, response rates, progress, and blockers
  • Leave behind reusable searches, templates, and processes so Drawboard can hire more easily in future

What we're looking for

  • Demonstrated experience recruiting software engineers for technology companies, ideally including .NET/C# and modern web (TypeScript/JavaScript) roles
  • Experience recruiting for SaaS or product software businesses, including product and growth/marketing roles
  • Enough technical fluency to distinguish genuinely relevant experience from keyword matching, and to explain our work credibly to candidates
  • Exceptional direct sourcing ability - comfortable running precise, targeted searches for scarce specialists using adjacent-technology signals and proxies, not just keyword matches - with strong written outreach
  • Good judgement on candidate quality and fit, and the confidence to hold the bar
  • Ability to work independently while keeping hiring managers well informed
  • Availability to start soon and commit 2–3 days per week

Helpful but not essential: experience with founder-led companies, smaller teams where hires carry broad responsibility, freemium or product-led SaaS, and building recruitment processes where no talent team exists.

How success is measured

Strong, qualified pipelines for each role; consistent outbound sourcing and response rates; high-quality candidates progressing to interview; clear communication with candidates and hiring managers; and successful hires completed where possible. Hiring outcomes depend on factors beyond the recruiter's control, so performance is assessed across candidate quality, sourcing output, process management, and results - not hires alone.

To apply

Please include:

  • Your expected hourly or daily rate and weekly availability
  • Earliest start date
  • Examples of software, product, or growth roles you've recruited
  • The sourcing tools you use (e.g. LinkedIn Recruiter or Recruiter Lite)
  • A brief note on how you'd approach sourcing experienced engineers for Drawboard

Why work with Drawboard

  • You'll work directly with the founder and senior team on hires that materially shape the company, with real ownership of the process and the opportunity to become our go-to recruiting partner as we continue to grow.
