Humatics is at the forefront of the microlocation revolution, enhancing the capabilities of rail and transit systems through advanced sensor integration and precise positioning technologies. We are seeking an Algorithms Engineer to join our Humatics Mobility team. This role involves developing and implementing cutting-edge technologies that leverage IMUs and visual data from cameras for precise localization and other core product functions in challenging operational environments. Your work will directly contribute to our product development efforts, addressing real-world challenges in rail and transit applications. We’re eager to meet enthusiastic, qualified candidates wanting to join our team and help create the microlocation revolution.

Humatics Mobility provides software solutions that leverage precise positioning and sensor data to improve operational efficiencies for our rail and transit customers. You'll be building the Humatics Focus track condition monitoring solution which leverages sensor and positional data to detect and tag track defects and anomalies, allowing maintainers to quickly and effectively repair tracks so that trains keep moving.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement algorithms for localization using IMUs, cameras, GNSS, LiDAR and other sensors.
  • Develop and optimize systems that use camera and LiDAR data for tasks beyond localization.
  • Build maps of track networks by applying mathematical optimization to sensor data.
  • Work closely with a team of engineers to integrate these technologies into our rail navigation systems.
  • Test and validate algorithms in simulated and real-world environments to ensure system reliability and accuracy in diverse operational settings.
  • Analyze large datasets to refine algorithm performance and enhance system functionality.
  • Generate comprehensive documentation and actively participate in code reviews and testing procedures.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in algorithm development, particularly using IMUs, cameras and LiDAR.
  • knowledge of machine vision and image processing techniques.
  • Strong proficiency in programming with Python, SQL, C++, or other relevant languages.
  • Demonstrated experience with sensor fusion.
  • Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software development principles.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment, including using common software development tools such as Git.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in or knowledge of the operational challenges in the rail industry.
  • Experience with system integration in industrial or transportation settings.
  • Prior experience with navigation systems, particularly in rail or other transit applications.
  • Experience deploying algorithms into production environments.

Compensation

  • Competitive salary.
  • Meaningful equity ownership.
