Barcelona, Spain

At Near Space Labs we design, build and operate a fleet of stratospheric robots to image the Earth. We launch our proprietary, balloon-based imaging robots to heights between 40,000 and 60,000 feet. From this vantage point, we capture petabytes of imagery for a variety of use cases.

We are looking for an agile and autonomous specialist capable of structuring our procurement and supply chain strategy from scratch in a critical expansion phase. You will report directly to the head of manufacturing and also help the team set-up our whole manufacturing and traceability operations.

Your responsibilities will be to:

  • Implement or improve on the inventory and procurement systems being used;
  • Own the procurement strategy and execute purchases to stock our small scale manufacturing floor in time;
  • Develop traceability systems and tools to track the location and status of key components across the fleet once deployed;
  • Source and manage relationships with key suppliers, especially for harness, connectors, electronics parts and mechanical components;
  • Analyze inventory levels, demand forecasts, and consumption patterns to optimize stock levels, and ensure timely availability of materials;
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, finding alternative sourcing options for critical components;
  • Support both manufacturing operations and the supply chain of our flight operations in the US.

Location:

This is a position for EU nationals or work permit holders based in Barcelona. Remote work possible 1 day a week.

Your Skills:

  • 3+ years experience in a similar role;
  • Experience sourcing and negotiating with technical suppliers;
  • Ability to think out of the box and use the adequate tools according to company needs and scale;
  • Ability to hands-on modify software solutions, spreadsheets and integrate different tools;
  • Understanding of small-scale production workflows, and logistics for deployed fleet operations;
  • Familiarity with startup environments desirable;
  • Excellent at decision making under uncertainty, risk management and systemic thinking.

What We Offer:

  • An exciting startup culture where you will have the opportunity to play a critical role in building and scaling a one-of-a-kind technology and organization;
  • You will be part of an enthusiastic, international and motivated team of professionals who are committed to building unique technologies, being rigorous, and finding novel solutions to interesting problems;
  • A diverse and inclusive workplace where we welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives;
  • A commitment that you will never be bored.
