VEERUM is seeking a Controller to lead core accounting operations, strengthen financial reporting, and support business decision-making.

This role requires strong technical accounting capability, sound business judgment, and the ability to improve systems and processes in a growing company. VEERUM operates in a Google Workspace environment, so strong experience with Google Sheets is an asset. The successful candidate will be comfortable building and maintaining financial models, reporting tools, budget trackers, cash flow forecasts, reconciliations, and shared reporting workflows in Google Sheets.

What You’ll Be Accountable For

Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations

• Own the month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and supporting analysis.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accounting records are complete and accurate.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll-related finance activities, and cash reconciliations.
• Coordinate annual financial reviews, audits, tax filings, and external accounting requirements.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, and regulatory obligations.

Financial Planning, Analysis & Forecasting

• Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Monitor performance against budget and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Prepare budget-to-actual reporting and variance analysis.
• Develop financial models to support planning and business decisions.
• Support scenario planning, resource allocation, and operational decision-making.
• Provide financial analysis that helps the business understand profitability, performance, and cash flow.

Cash Flow & Financial Stewardship

• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and cash position.
• Develop and maintain cash flow forecasting models.
• Provide visibility into receivables, payables, and working capital trends.
• Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Support investment, financing, and capital planning discussions as required.

Systems, Controls & Process Improvement

• Strengthen internal controls and financial governance.
• Improve financial reporting processes and reduce unnecessary manual work.
• Ensure financial systems produce reliable, timely, and useful information.
• Build scalable finance processes that support growth.
• Improve the structure, consistency, and usability of financial reporting tools and dashboards.
• Partner with internal teams to improve financial visibility and operational efficiency.

Google Workspace, Google Sheets & Reporting

VEERUM operates in a Google Workspace environment, and strong Google Sheets experience will be valuable in this role.

The Controller should be comfortable using Google Sheets to build, manage, and improve:

• Financial models
• Budget trackers
• Cash flow forecasts
• Reporting templates
• Reconciliations
• Variance analysis
• Shared finance workflows
• Department-level reporting tools

This includes experience with formulas, linked sheets, data validation, shared files, collaborative workflows, version management, and clear reporting structures.

Advanced Excel experience is valuable; however, this role requires confidence working in Google Sheets and supporting finance processes within a Google-based environment.

Business Partnership

• Translate financial information into clear business insights.
• Support leaders in understanding budgets, costs, financial risks, and trade-offs.
• Contribute to planning, operational reviews, and leadership discussions.
• Help department leaders improve financial understanding and accountability.
• Provide timely financial support for strategic projects and business decisions.

Education & Experience

• CPA designation required.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Experience leading accounting operations in a growth-stage company.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, controls, and compliance.
• Experience working with external auditors, accountants, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies.
• Experience building scalable finance processes, reporting structures, and internal controls.
• SaaS, technology, software, industrial technology, or high-growth business experience is considered an asset.
• Experience working in a Google Workspace environment is strongly preferred.
• Advanced Google Sheets skills are considered a strong asset.
