Overview
Joby Aviation is seeking an experienced Senior Maintenance Engineer to join our growing Product Support Engineering Team with a focus on developing the S4 Maintenance Program. This will include leading internal stakeholder coordination, technical analysis and problem solving. The position will be in our Marina, CA location. The role will actively work cross functionally with teams in Joby aviation including engineering, manufacturing, flight test, operations, and many more. The Senior Maintenance Engineer will support the road to entry into service for the S4 program, as it pertains to maintenance and maintainability.
Responsibilities
- It is expected the person in this role will play a crucial role in the development of the Joby Maintenance Program.
- Lead program strategies with internal and external stakeholders develop maintenance programs for new aircraft projects.
- Develop and improve processes to support initial type certification and recurring revisions to the maintenance program.
- Drive the implementation of a program for developing maintenance tasks and intervals for certification and company maintenance requirements identified through System Safety Assessments, Zonal Safety Assessments, and other design verification activities
- Work closely with other members of the design organization to ensure the design meets the needs of the maintenance team including feeding back field information into the design.
- Coordinate for assigned chapters the different maintenance task types, including airworthiness limitations and recommended maintenance.
- Conduct engineering analysis (MSG-3) to support maintenance program deliverables and determine appropriate maintenance tasks and intervals
- Support product support efforts which impact maintenance including troubleshooting, MMEL, aircraft performance analysis and processes.
- Carry out on-aircraft or near aircraft task validation activities.
Required
- 5+ years’ experience of relevant industry experience; aircraft OEM, Military or airline.
- 3+ years as a Licensed Aviation Maintenance Technician or Aviation Maintenance Professional, experienced engineering candidates will be considered.
- Expert in aircraft maintenance from either development or airline perspective.
- Experience in maintenance program management or development.
- Comfortable in a dynamic and evolving environment.
- Strong understanding of the fundamentals of aircraft maintenance programs, ability to translate this into a new sub-industry.
- Appreciates the value of knowledge sharing and providing training and guidance to other members of the organization.
- Go and see mentality, working with aircraft integration team to gather hands-on feedback.

The target base pay for this position is $135,100 - $180,200 per year salary. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
