Mechanical Engineer
Electric Era Technologies
Company:
Electric Era was founded to decarbonize and electrify transportation by powering all of EV charging. Transitioning the global car refill supply chain to electric will take decades of focused and intense work to solve the fundamental engineering challenges required to generate, store, transmit and distribute electricity for a global fleet of electric cars.
Today Electric Era is actively building the technologies that make it possible to rapidly transition our car energy infrastructure to electricity. We are dedicated to solving this audacious challenge and to building the cutting edge technology that powers the world.
Role:
Electric Era is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to develop aspects of our battery-backed DC fast charging station. This role is ultimately responsible for making sure that our products are easy and cheap to manufacture at scale. They will achieve this by implementing design changes to the product and manufacturing line to allow production to scale and meet our volume targets. On the product side, this includes product-level design improvements from conceptualization through test to production implementation. On the manufacturing side, this includes design of individual production stations, process development for key integration or fabrication steps, all the way through macro level decisions about material flow and overall product design.
Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize, design, test, and implement updates to hardware components of our DC Fast Charging station
- Troubleshoot production line issues and work with production team to implement updated processes and procedures to prevent further occurrences
- Drive design changes to address quality and manufacturability concerns emerging in production
- Own overall design and implementation of the production line for Electric Era’s next-gen charging station
- Guide product around design for manufacturing (DFM) principles to maximize quality and minimize input labor
- Project manage development of new production lines, including schedule, budget, and resources allocation
- Work with product engineering to slash requirements, simplify designs, optimize processes
- Determine where automation can be leveraged to improve outcomes and lead its development
- Collaborate with production team on build instructions and technician training
Qualifications and Preferred Skills:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a mechanical or manufacturing engineer in a professional setting
- Familiarity with mechanical design, including structural analysis, tolerance analysis, and GD&T
- Fluency with one or more CAD/PLM programs. NX/Teamcenter preferable.
- Proven full project ownership and delivery for complex and undefined design projects
- Strong personal and professional project portfolio demonstrating practical capability
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and hard driving attitude
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
