Project Manager - Civil Engineer

We are seeking a Civil Engineer Project Manager with a California Professional Engineer (PE) license to oversee the development and construction of Electric Era’s battery-backed DC fast charging sites. You will be responsible for leading site implementation from concept through operation—managing civil and utility design, permitting, contractor coordination, and construction oversight. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing our site concepts and designs to enable us to install tens of thousands of sites with higher reliability and lower cost.
This role is critical in ensuring that each site meets regulatory and engineering standards while advancing Electric Era’s mission to enable widespread EV adoption.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and construction of DC fast charging installations, ensuring PE-stamped drawings and designs meet code and quality standards
- Manage all phases of site development, including feasibility studies, site layout, grading, drainage, utility coordination, and permitting with AHJs
- Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) where applicable, reviewing and sealing civil plans for permit submittals
- Interface with external engineering consultants, surveyors, utilities, and local municipalities to guide designs from concept to approval
- Collaborate with internal design, construction, and supply chain teams to align civil scope with the broader site development schedule and budget
- Oversee contractors during construction, reviewing RFIs, submittals, and field changes for civil and site-related work
- Optimize permitting strategies for faster approvals and reduced friction with utilities and municipalities
- Maintain project documentation and coordinate handoff to Network Operations post-commissioning
- Ensure all development complies with relevant codes, standards (e.g., ADA, CalGreen), and environmental requirements (CEQA, stormwater)
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Licensed Civil Engineer (PE) in the State of California (required)
- 5+ years of civil engineering experience related to infrastructure, utilities, or EV charging site development
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience preparing or reviewing plans for site layout, grading, drainage, and erosion control
- Strong project management skills with attention to detail and risk management
- Effective communicator who can collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
- Proficiency with civil design tools (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam, etc.)
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills
- Ability to act quickly in a fast-moving and high-stress environment
- Experience with EV charging infrastructure, distributed energy resources (DERs), or public works projects
- Familiarity with CEQA, Caltrans, ADA requirements, and public utility coordination
- PMP certification or equivalent construction management experience
Additional Requirements:
- This position is based in Seattle, WA and requires being onsite - remote work not considered
- Valid driver’s license
Base Salary:
$120-150k annually, dependent on experience.
